1) Power on & choose mode
- Turn on SnapScan™ (press the power button).
- From the home screen pick the Scan / OCR mode (or press the physical “scan” button).
2) Set language (optional)
- If you want an instant translation, set the input (source) and output (target) languages before scanning.
If you skip this, SnapScan uses the default language or auto-detects the input language.
3) Position the pen correctly
- Place the page on a flat, steady surface.
- Hold the pen perpendicular to the text at about 1cm distance (the recommended distance).
- Make sure the text is well-lit and the lens is clean. High contrast (dark ink on light paper) works best.
4) Scan the question
- Move the pen slowly over the question text, left to right, keeping the scanning window aligned with the words.
- Press the Scan button once to capture a single line/area or press-and-hold to capture a block of text.
- Wait 1–3 seconds for SnapScan to process — you’ll usually hear a beep or see a confirmation on the display.
5) Preview the result
- The extracted text appears on the pen’s screen (or on the companion app if connected).
- Check the captured text for OCR errors — correct misspellings if needed.
6) Translate (if needed)
- Tap Translate (or press the translate button). Choose the target language and tap Go.
- The translated text appears on screen within seconds.
7) Get an AI summary / explanation
- Tap Summarize or Explain to have the AI shorten the question into key points or give a step-by-step explanation.
- You can ask follow-up: press Ask and speak or type a clarifying question (e.g., “Explain step 2”).
8) Listen to it (Text-to-Speech)
- Tap the Play icon to hear the question, translation, or summary read aloud.
Great for commuting or auditory learners.
Quick best-practice tips
- Single question = one scan. For best accuracy scan one question or paragraph at a time.
- Light & angle matter. Avoid glare from glossy pages; tilt slightly if needed.
- Handwriting: OCR works best on printed text; neat handwriting increases accuracy.
- Math & symbols: Complex equations may not convert perfectly—photograph & transcribe manually if needed.
- Firmware & language packs: Keep the pen updated and download offline language packs for no-WiFi use.
Troubleshooting (fast fixes)
- Blurred or missing text: Move slower, get closer (1–2 cm), or increase lighting.
- Wrong language detected: Manually set the input language then re-scan.
- No audio playback: Check volume and that text-to-speech is enabled; update firmware.
- OCR mistakes with cursive: Ask SnapScan to re-scan the same area or transcribe manually.
